Welcome to the part of Lake Forest, CA that is Boscoes Sports Grill. Boscoes boasts video games, pool tables, and an old school bar. Boscoes has plenty of TVs for watching sports. Boscoes even has a stage for talent. Boscoes stays true to it's name by offering a grill with a typical sports bar menu. The menu offers lots of opportunities for fried food. All the food seemed a bit pricey for us. The food price point didn't really match the dive bar spirit that the rest of the place provides.
Speaking of Dive Bar, Boscoes is everything we love. Inside it is dark and dingy. It is the kind of place where you can go and loose track of time. Enter at noon, leave after sundown and it still feels like you've only been there for 30 minutes. We're going to have to go back and visit when football season is on to really get a feel of the sports angle at Boscoes.
Ohhhh the Trackside! Welcomed with open arms but left with the feeling it was our time to leave. The initially friendly environment offers Keno, a pool table, an oddly enough very updated CD jukebox.... and a bounced check fee.
Finally with the age of online videos and cell phones that record videos, we decided that a full-blown community was needed.
This community is designed for the drinker who is also a part time journalist.
What you can and should do here:
Relay Your Stories of The Night Out
Rate Bars and Drinking Establishments
Tell Us Where You Would Like To Host A StrangeBar Event
Promote Your Band
Promote Your Bar
Assuming that you already are a StrangeBarfly, the next thing that you need to do is Sign up for Flickr. Flickr has a mobile tools page that has instructions specific to your phone. If that doesn't work, remember that most phones support sending email. Flickr will post whatever photos you send to your account. So there are two modes, the moblie version of Flickr, and posting to Flickr by email. If you use another photo service, tell me about it, and I'll see about getting support for it.
When we needed a mission statement, it didn't take much brainstorming. From the start, our mission has been simple. Our mission is to Hang With Drunks. StrangeBars is a site dedicated to trying to remember all of the good times that we have had at bars. It started by taking a microcassette recorder into the bar, and listening to it the next day. I found out that people say some funny stuff. Then it moved onto taking picures in bars and relaying the stories.
